Dota 2 is Valve's top-down MOBA and one of the most complex competitive games ever made. With 127+ heroes, hundreds of items, and deep strategic systems, it rewards game knowledge and adaptability more than almost any other game in the genre.
What Makes Dota 2 Different
- 1Positions, not roles: Dota 2 uses a 1-5 position system based on farm priority. Position 1 (Carry) gets the most gold, Position 5 (Hard Support) gets the least. Positions map loosely to lanes but heroes can flex across positions.
- 2127+ heroes with extremely diverse abilities. Many heroes have unique mechanics that don't exist in other MOBAs (Invoker has 10 spells, Meepo controls multiple clones, Rubick steals enemy abilities).
- 3Items are highly situational. Unlike other MOBAs where builds are fairly fixed, Dota 2 items are chosen based on the specific enemy team composition. A carry might build completely different items game to game.
- 4401 items including consumables, components, and full items. The item system is deeper than any other MOBA with active abilities on most items.
- 5Real win rate data for all 127 heroes sourced from match data.
